Newcastle Pubs
& Nightlife
Newcastle
is famous for it's many pubs and clubs most notably in the Quayside,
Haymarket and Bigg Market areas of town.
The Quayside is a well known throughout the UK as being the
hub of nightlife in Newcastle and has a variety of pubs and
restaurants and is a mixture of traditional type pubs and modern
wine bar type bistros. The area is a often a focal point for
locals to enjoy a good night out and is always enjoyed by students
and weekend visitors. Beyour musical requestcause the area is
so popular the prices in these bars can be higher than other
parts of Newcastle and they do tend to get very busy and crowded
at weekends.
If your idea of a good night out does not demand sophistication
then you may want to try the Bigg Market area. With several
pubs and restaurants contained in a smaller area it is very
easy to get around and do a "pub crawl" The majority
of pubs in this area feature music and some of them also employ
Disc Jockeys to cater for your every request. Most of the pubs
in this area can be pretty lively although there are certain
pubs in the area which do not have music and you can enjoy a
drink and a conversation with your family and friends.Again
the busiest times are the weekends when queuing to get in to
some places may be a problem.
Close to the University area is Haymarket and the pubs in this
area are mostly frequented by students. Although not as compact
as Biggs Market there are still enough pubs and bars to guarantee
an enjoyable evening in Bars such as Bar Oz, Cajun and Creole
Bar and Old Orleans Restaurant.
If you are on a budget and are more interested in the beer
rather than the surroundings, check out JD Wetherspoon and Yates's
Wine Lodge which are both a stone's throw from the main Railway
Station. The beer in these places can be considerably less expensive
than the plush wine bars and also worthy of a visit are the
Head of Steam and the Bridge Hotel. These places are very traditional
and have a loyal following of local drinkers who appreciate
the service and the many types of beers on offer.
There is one thing for sure, if you are looking to party Newcastle
is definitely the place to be!!
CLUBS
Newcastle attracts many clubgoers and the most popular are
Digital, The Attic and the Baja Beach Club. These clubs are
renowned in the North East and they often attract world famous
DJ'S for their party nights.
Other types of clubs include the Salsa Club which provides
an evening of first class Latin entertainment in the form of
music and Latin American dancing.
If you fancy an unusually different evening why not check out
the Hyena Comedy Club where you can watch and laugh at live
comedians doing their "stand up" routines. It is recommended
that you call and book ahead to this club as it is always very
busy.
