Shopping in Newcastle
ELDON
SQUARE
The biggest shopping centre in the city of Newcastle is the
ELDON SQUARE shopping arena and it caters for over 100 stores.
Some of the famous brand names include Marks and Spencer,
John Lewis and many others. It is right in the centre of the
city and walking distance from all the city centre hotels
and is frequented regularly by both tourists and the local
population from around the Newcastle Area. Eldon Square is
well served by public transport with various bus and metro
links taking you directly to the centre. Arriving or leaving
by bus is particularly easy as the shopping centre has it's
own bus terminal. If you arrive by metro you alight at Monument
station and you are able to walk straight into the centre
through it's own entrance from the station. Car Parking is
not a problem either as there are thousands of car parking
spaces purely dedicated to ELDON SQUARE.

METRO CENTRE GATESHEAD
THE METRO CENTRE in Gateshead prides itself on being known
as the largest shopping and leisure centre in Europe. Gateshead
is about 3 miles south of the city and is easily reachable
by all forms of public transport or car. The centre has over
300 shops and again a host of famous brands are represented
including Marks and Spencer, Debenhams and John Lewis. There
is also an abundance of smaller privately owned retail shops
where you will be able to find varied and specialised shopping
and perhaps pick up up a bargain or an unusual piece of furniture
for your home.
There are also many leisure attractions in the centre with
the New Metroland boasting to be the largest indoor theme
park in Europe. A large cinema with many screens, bowling
alley and Quasar all add to the family appeal of this sprawling
shopping and entertainment complex.
The centre also has about 60 restaurants which cater for
every taste. There are plenty of fast food places for family
dining and although Nandos and Est are a bit more expensive,
they are well worth a visit. Many of these restaurants and
attractions are open throughout the day even if the shops
are closed.
Opening hours of the centre are: 10am-9pm Weekdays and 9am-7pm
Saturdays and 11am-5pm Sundays.
